Hello World!
I was born and raised in Watertown, WI. My wife and I rented in Milwaukee, WI for a few years years before moving to our current residence, a lake-home in Beaver Dam, WI. I obtained my B.S. in Management Computer Systems (with a minor of Web Development) at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater and plan on going back for my master's degree in the near future.
Gotta Earn a Buck
In my 9a-to-5p life, I work as a Microsoft .NET software design engineer, programmer, and mentor at iit/SourceTech. I have been happily working there since I graduated college and have since become a lead software designer and programmer. I currently enjoy the ability to telecommute three days a week, only needing to make the trek into Hales Corners, WI twice a week.
Penguin Power
I hope that Microsoft talk didn’t scare you too much; because in my 5p-to-9a life I am a total Linux geek. I’m a developer for Lunar-Linux, an awesome source-based distribution that I encourage you to give a spin. I’m founder of the Beaver Dam Linux User Group (a.k.a. DamLUG) and currently VP of the Milwaukee Linux User Group (a.k.a. MLUG). And just to drive
the point home so to speak, my 2003 Honda Civic’s license plate is DEV NULL and has a Tux penguin decal on the window.
Why?
Technology drives me; especially open source software and the abundance of high-quality, free services that are now offered (both on-line and off). Every day, OSS and these services are proving that humanity, intertwined with technology, is capable solving problems and making connections in new & exciting ways. I’m proud to be riding this wave; more importantly, helping this wave of opportunity and free culture continue to roll.
